Strike Up Some Support For Big Brothers Big Sisters At Bowl For Kids' Sake

TRAVERSE CITY, MI: Bowl for Kids' Sake, proudly presented by the Great Wolf Lodge, is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Michigan’s biggest fundraising event, providing up to 25% of the agency's annual revenue. This event is a fun and effective way to benefit kids in our community who are in need of a caring mentor and a positive role model. By raising bowling pledges to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, you can make a difference. The money raised will stay locally and be used to help recruit new volunteer mentors, cover background checks and insurance, and support case managers so that they can provide ongoing professional support and supervision for each match. This year’s event will be held from 7pm-9pm on May 11-14 in Traverse City’s Timber Lanes and from 1pm-3pm on May 15 in Harbor Spring’s Northern Lights Recreation. Teams consisting of 4 to 6 people must first register with BBBSNWMI in order to reserve a lane on the date and time they want to bowl. Then each team member must collect at least $100 in pledges to bring to the bowling center the day of the event. There are prizes for the individuals and teams who raise the most money. Upwards of the top 8 fundraising teams registered for each night of BFKS in Traverse City will get to bowl in Timber Lanes’ new VIP Room, and the individual that raises the most overall nights of bowl will win a “BIG TC Experience” prize package, including a GT Balloon hot air balloon ride. In addition to great prizes, there will also be food and great entertainment for all. BBBS would like to recognize the following businesses for their support of this event: Great Wolf Lodge, Cherryland Electric, Fifth Third Bank, DBH, Bill Marsh Automotive, Manthei Inc, Cartridge World, Martin Marietta Materials, Fox32, and Thrivent Financial. Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mission is to help children in need reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one mentoring matches with volunteers. Our service is proven to raise kids’ self esteem, academic performance, prevent delinquency, and reduce the risk of violence, drug, and alcohol use, while building their sense of the future. Join us today for this fun raising event and help give the gift of friendship and hope.
