For more than 40 years, Big Brothers and Big Sisters have been mentoring the children of Northwestern Michigan. 1,500 lives later, we are still the leader in one-to-one youth mentoring services. Developing positive relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people is our vision every day. We provide mentors for children ages 6 to 18 in more than 20 schools throughout 10 counties.
Research has shown that positive relationships between youth and their Big Brother or Big Sister has a measurable impact on children’s lives. By participating in our program, Little Brothers and Sisters are:
|
| |
• 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs • 27% less likely to begin using alcohol • 52% less likely to skip school |
| |
| Our Programs are made possible by: |
• Board of Directors • Professional paid staff • Local county support • Volunteer mentors • Volunteer Office support • Corporate sponsors • Individual donors • Foundation and Grant Supporters |
