Our Program
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Michigan

For more than 40 years, Big Brothers and Big Sisters have been mentoring the children of Northwestern Michigan. 1,500 lives later, we are still the leader in one-to-one youth mentoring services. Developing positive relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people is our vision every day. We provide mentors for children ages 6 to 18 in more than 20 schools throughout 10 counties.

Research has shown that positive relationships between youth and their Big Brother or Big Sister has a measurable impact on children’s lives. By participating in our program, Little Brothers and Sisters are:

• 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
• 27% less likely to begin using alcohol
• 52% less likely to skip school

Our Programs are made possible by:
•   Board of Directors
•   Professional paid staff
•   Local county support
•   Volunteer mentors
•   Volunteer Office support
•   Corporate sponsors
•   Individual donors
•   Foundation and Grant Supporters
